Asbury Shorts New York is New York City's longest running exhibition of award-winning short films and producer Doug LeClaire brings the World's Best Short Films back to Algonquin Arts Theatre. Produced as a fast-paced event in a "Short Film Concert" format, the program features the best in comedy, drama and animation by combining classic shorts with new international festival winners. A rare opportunity to see world-class films on the big screen in a theatrical setting, each of the titles ranges from two to 25 minutes long and is presented back to back much like a musician's set list.
Highlights of the March 9 show include: "The Suitor," a dark comedy from director Kate Riedl of Australia. A nervous young man courts a beautiful heiress living in a huge mansion in the middle of the Australian Outback. She has some strange tales to tell him. Also: "A Whole World for a Little World" from director Fabrice Baracq of France. A young mother enthralls her toddler with the astonishing tale of the courtship of a special prince & princess and "The Drive," the story of Evie, who struggles with role reversals as she drives her aging parents to an assisted living facility. Corinne Kassor directed this heart warming short.
Runtime: 90 minutes
