The Algonquin Arts Theatre will celebrate Valentine’s Day weekend by
featuring “Meet Me in Paris,” a performance by The Hot Club of San Francisco.
The live concert will take place on Saturday, Feb. 13, at 8 p.m. at the
theatre, on Main Street in Manasquan. The concert will feature singer Isabelle
Fontaine.
Tickets are $35 for adults, $33 for seniors and $20 for students and
children.
The performance is being sponsored by the Fred Astaire Dance Studio on
Route 35 in Wall Township, and the show is inspired by the legendary Hot
Club de France.
The Hot Club of San Francisco, also known in its local area as “Le Jazz
Hot,” echoes its predecessors’ landmark “gypsy jazz” in “Meet Me in Paris,”
a musical journey to the Parisian jazz club of the 1920s and 1930s.
The San Francisco ensemble employs the original Hot Club’s all-string
assembly of violin, bass and guitars, updating the sound with modern innovations
and twists under lead guitarist Paul Mehling.
Ms. Fontaine lends her skills in a blend of sweet and sultry ballads,
providing all the romance of the City of Lights on this side of the Atlantic.
