Algonquin Arts Theatre Receives Grant for Algonquin Youth Ensemble

April 16, 2013

MANASQUAN, N.J.(March 29, 2013) - The Investors Foundation, which provides grant funding for not-for-profit organizations that enrich the communities served by Investors Bank, has awarded $1,000 to Algonquin Arts Theatre.

Founded in 1992, Algonquin Arts Theatre was established to provide cultural enrichment and arts education for residents of Monmouth and Ocean counties. The organization stages performances in dramatic and musical theater, dance, concerts, film, and other media at the 540-seat Algonquin Arts Theatre in Manasquan. The organization also offers an extensive range of outreach and educational programs, including training, theater and classroom workshops, and a performing arts summer camp program.

The Investors Foundation grant will support the Algonquin Youth Ensemble (AYE) program, a part of the theatre's Performing Arts Academy that offers a classroom experience combined with a main stage performance. In May, AYE students who successfully audition will be featured in six performances of The Sound of Music, which is being produced by Shore Repertory Theatre Company.

"Algonquin Youth Ensemble allows our students to have the opportunity grow in the performing arts while working alongside professionals in the field," said Julie Nagy, Director of Education at Algonquin Arts Theatre. "Support like this grant from the Investors Foundation helps us offer students that have developed with us to have bigger and better opportunities in the classroom and on the stage."

"We are enormously grateful for the friendship of the Investors Foundation," added Executive Director Bill Whitefield. "I believe I speak for all the students and staff at Algonquin Arts Theatre when I express my thanks to our many generous supporters."
