MANASQUAN, NJ � Next station stop: River City. "The Music Man" will take the Algonquin Arts Theatre stage for six performances starting on April 20.

Brielle native Ian Moore directs Meredith Willson's beloved Broadway musical, winner of eight Tony Awards including Best Musical, with Father Alphonse Stephenson conducting an on-stage orchestra featuring members of the Orchestra of St. Peter by the Sea.

The Algonquin Players include a cast of more than 50 that will perform some of the most popular musical theatre songs of all-time including "Ya Got Trouble," "Seventy-Six Trombones," and "The Wells Fargo Wagon."

Public demand for tickets has been high, with both Sunday performances of The Music Man selling out weeks ago.

Seats remain for the Friday (April 20 & 27) and Saturday (April 21 & 28) evening performances at 8 p.m. Tickets cost $27 for adults, $25 for seniors and $18 for students and are available online at algonquinarts.org or by calling 732-528-9211. The Algonquin Arts Theatre Box Office is open from 12-6 p.m. on weekdays and 12-4 on weekends. All tickets are subject to a $2 processing fee.

Brett Colby plays Harold Hill, the fast-talking salesman of musical instruments, who convinces the good folks of River City, Iowa, that they are in dire need of a marching band. His plan to skip town with their money comes to a crashing halt when he falls head-over-heels in love with the town's librarian, Marian Paroo (played by Julie Nagy).

Colby served as the Algonquin Arts Theatre Director of Development from 2009-2011 and Nagy is currently the theatre's Director of Education. John Newman, chair of the theatre's board, returns to the stage to play pompous Mayor George Shinn after appearing in "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" as Potiphar.

Connor Sheridan, also from the "Joseph � Dreamcoat" cast plays Tommy Djilas and Danielle Yucht, who shined as Connie Miller in "The 1940's Radio Hour," plays Zanetta Shinn � the mayor's daughter who is secretly seeing Tommy.

Also appearing on stage will be Billy Cardone as Marcellus Washburn, Steve Bartlow as Charlie Cowell, Laurett Gannon as Eualie Mackecknie Shinn, Pati Schaffer as Mrs. Paroo, Jake Walsh as Winthrop Paroo, Sam Levine as Constable Locke, Parker McAllen as Amaryllis, Jake Walsh as Winthrop Paroo and Nicole Curnan as Gracie Shinn.

Barbara Birmingham, Anne Havens, Amy LaPosa, Edie Novak, Pati Thecker and Donna Van Amen play the Pick-A-Little Ladies and Joseph McCoy, Joe Colon, Donald Srocki and John Russo harmonize as the barbershop quartet.

The Music Man is the third production this season produced by Algonquin Arts Theatre following the wildly successful "Joseph � Dreamcoat" in August and "The 1940's Radio Hour" in December. The theatre will also self-produce two summer musicals in 2012, "Kids Say The Darndest Things" and "Oliver!" Audition information for both shows is available at algonquinarts.org/auditions.
