G. Love, aka Garrett Dutton, has been the front man of the alternative hip-hop blues group G. Love & Special Sauce since he founded the group in 1993. The group is widely known for his upbeat hits "Cold Beverage," "Baby's Got Sauce" and "Hot Cookin',"
In 2006, the G.Love & Special Sauce signed on with Jack Johnson's Brushfire Records, on which hes released three of his four solo albums. Most recently he returned to his blues and country roots on "Fixin' To Die," produced by Scott and Seth Avett.
G. Love performs roughly 125 shows a year all over the world including Australia, Japan, Brazil, UK, Canada and the U.S. This is his third annual visit to Algonquin Arts Theatre after playing to capacity crowds each of the last two years.
Asbury Park's Quincy Mumford will take the stage to open. Mumford recently released a third album, "Live at the Saint," following four years, more than 300 shows and two award-winning albums. The singer/songwriter creates upbeat music that seamlessly combines elements of pop, funk, reggae and surf grooves.
G.Love's performance is just one of many great entertainment options this summer at Algonquin Arts Theatre. The summer kicks off with The Orchestra of St. Peter By the Sea conducted by Father Alphonse Stephenson on June 24 and is followed by a new musical, Kids Say The Darndest Things! Starring Patrick Cassidy, from June 28-July 1. For more information, visit algonquinarts.org.
