Algonquin Arts will continue its tradition of offering a musical production this summer that will feature local and regional talent. This year's selection is Rent directed and produced by New Jersey Youth Theatre in collaboration with NJPAC and Algonquin Arts, the presenters of the production. Auditions for Rent will be held on Saturday, April 3rd at 1 pm on the Algonquin stage or Saturday, April 10th at 1 pm in the Victoria Lobby at NJPAC, 1 Center Street in Newark. The PNC Foundation awarded Algonquin Arts a $15,000 grant to provide educational and cultural opportunities for over 200 Asbury Park, Neptune, and Howell Head Start students and their teachers. The Algonquin Arts/Head Start partnership uniquely combines live performances at the Algonquin Arts Theatre in Manasquan with pre-performance workshops using classic children's books on which the live performances are based. Matinees will now be featured on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at noon rather than later in the afternoon. These new matinees will make it more convenient for stay-at-home parents to enjoy a movie every now and then, while allowing them to be home when most school day’s come to an end.
